Recap of the 1st Missouri High School Disc Golf Championship

The 2026 Missouri State High School Disc Golf Championship, proudly sponsored by Innova Champion Discs, took place this Saturday under absolutely perfect tournament conditions. With temperatures in the low 80s, light winds between 5–10 mph, and the Mother Road Course at North Park in outstanding condition, the stage was set for an unforgettable day of competition and the players delivered!

A total of 23 talented young men competed across two divisions: Varsity and Junior Varsity. Competitors battled for championship honors, limited Innova Junior Scholarships, and a FREE one-year Professional Disc Golf Association membership. In addition, every player received a 25% discount toward a one-year PDGA membership, courtesy of the PDGA.

Varsity Division
Fifteen area high school athletes competed in an exciting Varsity showdown. Calvin Hensley from Bolivar High School came out firing in Round 1, building an impressive five-stroke lead over Mason Myers from Myers Academy. Calvin also carded the hot round of the tournament with an incredible -11, rated at 1040!
Mason battled back in Round 2, trimming the lead to just two strokes, but Calvin stayed composed and held on to secure the championship title.

Meanwhile, Ian Boyer caught fire in the second round with a scorching -9 hot round, pulling himself into a tie for third place with Blake Pettigrew. Blake broke the tie in dramatic fashion on the last hole, sinking a clutch circle two putt to claim sole possession of third place.

Junior Varsity Division
The Junior Varsity division featured eight rising stars competing for the title. Seth Lemon took control early, building a three-stroke advantage over Luke Willoughby after the opening round.

Seth continued his strong play throughout the day, extending his lead to seven strokes to capture the Junior Varsity championship.

Garret Samek and Trey Gates finished tied for second place at +13, rounding out a competitive JV field.

A huge shoutout goes to Marc Baker and the crew at Marshfield Parks and Recreation for
having Nelson Park Disc Golf Course in tip-top shape for the tournament. Another special thank you goes to Carl & Krista Jackson “Red Ox BBQ” for serving some of the best smoked pork and chicken around!
